Totally forgot to make a post about this!

Posted by RadioTubeClock - February 15th, 2021

To make a long story short, I helped sink another ship in the name of the Clock Crew. The vessel was the Voici Bernadette, a ship which had been seized for trying to smuggle drugs into Florida. The Voici Bernadette was sunk as an artificial reef in 2019, with a good chunk of the funds for doing so coming from crowd funding. I helped out with that funding, and as such there is a plaque with my clock name on it on the vessel under the bridge windows. They also sent me one which I have on my wall. I originally held off on making a post about it as Florida got hit hard by a hurricane not long afterwards and then I sort of forgot about making a post after that. Anyway, here's the plaque I have:

Someone's drone video of the sinking, it starts going down at 1:32

Upvotes for downboats!

Had no idea you were involved with this stuff for real! :D Nice. Ended up going down a rabbithole of underwater footage at later dates, and go pro footage from within the ship as it sank... wonder how they do this though? Explosives? Seems like the footage missed a few frames when they did whatever they had to do to sink this.

It's been ages since I've last been diving but hopefully I'll get to go see it in person some day if I get down to Florida again. I think in this case they had a tug pull alongside and pumped water in until the waterline reached some of the holes in the hold. I know with some of the larger vessels they've used explosives.

the Duck Division donated a rainwater catching system to a coastal city in west Africa

Nice!

Aha, a bit less destructive a method then.

Would be awesome for sure. Seemed like plenty of plaques on the cabin wall in the underwater footage one, but they never really zoomed in. Now how to find stuff like this to crowdfund hmm, being eternally inscribed on an underwater monument seems like the way to go...
